Radia accelerator is named in honour of Radia Perlman, the “mother of the internet”. The engineer and mathematician was a major figure in assembling the networks and technology, an innovation that gave birth to what we now know as the internet.
A distinguished inventor, engineer and respected author who has earned some 80 patents, Radia was drawn into programming while at MIT in the 1970s where less than 5% of students on her course were female. Radia was also a pioneer in teaching young children computer programming.
Inspired by her brilliance, resolve and contribution to the development of modern technologies, our accelerator programme is designed to unearth talent and nurture women in their early entrepreneurial journey.
